Friends of Shirtcliffe and the Sheffield Bio-Diversity Monitoring Officer (Ziggy Senkans) put on a 2-hour walk round Shirtcliffe Valley's Ancient Woodland. The aim was to discover as many different fungi as possible. Fortunately, the day dawned fine and clear. 12 adults, 2 little girls, 2 babies, and 2 dogs turned out. Everyone had great fun rooting round and turning over logs and branches. In all, 37 species of fungi were found - most of which were identified on the spot by Ziggy. A very enjoyable and productive day!
