Friends of Mount Pleasant Park
Friend of Mount Pleasant Park in the Sharrow area of Sheffield is made up of a group of local residents. The original FOMPP was set up in 2001 and achieved a great deal in the community. A “Love Sharrow” conference was held in March this year, and the current group was formed as a result. We intend to build on the considerable achievements of our predecessors. We meet every month or so in the local community centre based in the old Sharrow Junior School.
Sharrow is made up of several streets of mainly Victorian terraced houses and is about a mile from the city centre. It is a culturally and ethnically diverse area, celebrated with the annual Sharrow Festival, a multi-cultural, multi-arts event showcasing local talent and food and demonstrating pride in the local community.
Mount Pleasant Park covers 3 hectares and was created in 1983 from an area of housing clearance.
