Moors for the Future Community Science
We're a Heritage Lottery funded project which is encouraging citizen scientists to collect biological and environmental data about the moorlands of the Peak District and South Pennines. We’re based in the Peaks, but have sites we monitor very near to Sheffield (e.g. Totley Moss) and run free training events (e.g. Bumblebee ID and survey techniques).
By collecting scientific data about some certain iconic upland species as well as environmental factors like the water table, we aim to find out about how climate change will affect the long term prospects of this globally important landscape.
Anyone can take part, from those with just an hour to spare to those with a lifetime, and you don’t need to have any previous experience. You can learn new skills, improve your wildlife ID abilities and meet new people - all while getting out and about in this inspiring upland environment.
