Hangingwater Allotment Association
Hanginwater Allotment Association is a voluntary, not-for-profit association of members who hold plots on Hangingwater Allotments.
The founding aim of the association is to make cultivation across the site easier and a more cooperative enterprise.
We aim to welcome and support new plot holders on the site to get them off to the best possible start.
Welcome to the Hangingwater Allotments from Hangingwater Allotment Association. The purpose of the association is to represent and promote the interests of allotment gardeners on the Hangingwater site and to liaise with Sheffield City Council's Allotment Office to ensure services to the site are maintained to the best possible standard. Most of the gardeners on the site are members and we would like to increase membership to all believing both in strength of numbers and the social and supportive benefits of sharing resources and knowledge.
We also have several annual social events such as plant sales, wassailing, summer solstice event and a bonfire.
We are financially sound and have an active committee. Funds raised from membership and from our bi-annual plant and produce sales to the public are used to bulk purchase supplies of cow and horse manure, and sand for the benefit of all. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month, normally at The Bull's Head pub on Fulwood Road at 7.30 pm, with an open agenda and sometimes have speakers or guests. All plot holders are welcome to attend the meetings: please come along. If you would like to meet with one of us on the site, or have any questions about your plot, gardening, or the Association we will be happy to help and can put you in touch with some of our experts (initial contact details below).
Applications for membership or requests for further information should be directed to our secretary Greta Pearman (gretapearman@googlemail.com) or the Treasurer Alec Kokinis (alec.kokinis@btopenworld.com). Please include your plot number in your communication.
The annual membership fee is £5 per plot for a single member with an additional £2 each for any co-plot holder. (We ask for this additional £2 to be paid so all members of the association benefit from public liability insurance).
