Description | In this session we will look at Organic horticulture from the perspective of "that which we can't find in the wild, we will cultivate in our gardens". The root of the meaning of Horticulture comes from the Greek word Hortus, meaning Garden. In this session we will look at the key building blocks of Organic Horticulture and what role organic horticulture has to play in building sustainable food growing systems in both urban and rural environments. Within this session we will look at the various initiatives that have been set up in the last few decades that aim to support the development of local organic horticulture, making the practice of it accessible to as many people as possible. We will also look into the various implications Organic Horticulture has to play in building health and the multiple therapeutic benefits that can be found within the practice of it. We will look at annual cycles and perennial cycles of cultivated plants, and the various propagation techniques used by horticulturists. COST - £10 for each individual session, £80 for the whole course. Contact Stephen Watts: maxsalad@googlemail.com for more information |
