Description |
To celebrate the start of ‘Yorkshire in Bloom - 2011’ please come and help create ‘The Owlthorpe Copse’, everyone is welcome. This event is facilitated by The Royal Horticultural Society and using native trees provided free by The Woodland Trust. Trees are an essential part of our communities’ green space. Planting ‘The Owlthorpe Copse’ will bring benefits for the residents and wildlife of Owlthorpe. The trees will provide year-round colour providing beautiful views in every season. Trees enhance our sense of well-being; provide homes for wildlife and a sustainable source of local food and raw materials. They help store carbon, providing colourful shelter, shade and screening to keep where we live and work cool, and even help reduce the impact of heavy rainwater by slowing its journey into our drains with their leaves and roots. Native species are the backbone of our wildlife’s food chain, and are well-adapted to local soils. |
