CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire Woodland Conservation Task Day. Cost: Free
We are CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire, the countryside charity. Our goal is to create a thriving and beautiful countryside that can be enjoyed by everyone.
In celebration of our centenary, we would like to extend an invitation to you to join our conservation task day at Haythornthwaite Wood near Dore.
This woodland is located on the outskirts of Sheffield, just 1km away from the boundary of the Peak District National Park. It holds sentimental value as it was planted in dedication to the founders of our charity, Ethel and Gerald Haythornthwaite.
You will contribute to the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of this unique woodland, creating a thriving habitat for plants and wildlife to flourish. No prior experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute to a variety of tasks including path maintenance, dead hedging, dry stone walling and creating habitat piles and logstacks for wildlife.
The ongoing improvements to the woodland are made possible thanks to grants from The Dore Village Society and CPRE Hedgerow Heroes.
