Sheffield Fruit Trees (SFT) is an urban fruit tree nursery workers’ co-op, which started in Sheffield in 2018 as an offshoot of the Abundance Project. They will talk about what to think about when planting trees ie rootstocks, staking, mulching etc. and will give an overview of who they are, how they came about and how they’ve grown to where they are today.
SFT specialise in cultivating local fruit varieties, as well as providing planting and design services for both public and private spaces. Their aim is to connect people with nature and food growing by supporting people in and around Sheffield to plant and maintain trees. As well as running pruning and grafting workshops, they also donate trees to the community via the Community Fruit Tree Fund. |
