Description This talk and all our lectures are FREE for Friends of the Botanical Gardens to attend. Members of the public are also welcome to join us on payment of £5 at the door on the day. Live talks are held in the Education Centre in the grounds of the Botanical Gardens - easily accessed via the Thompson Road Entrance. This talk looks at how we see colour, how plants achieve all their different colours and why colour is so important to plants (pigments for photosynthesis, attracting pollinators and seed dispersal by animals). And also how we can use colour in our gardens for best effect. The botanical talk will include some science for those who like to know what makes plants tick…… Hilary describes herself as a botanist by training and a gardener by inclination. She studied Botany at Sheffield University where she extended her love of gardening to gain an insight into the world of plants. She is a keen photographer, using her photographic skills to capture images which illustrate the lectures she gives to clubs and societies throughout the UK and abroad.
